Year 7 - This is the moment we have all been waiting for (lol): Create!

Now, let's see what the MYP asks us to do in this stage of the Design Cycle.

Create - Criterion D Maximum 6

Students are expected to follow their plan, to evaluate the plan and to justify any changes they make to the plan while they are creating the product/solution.

To get a 6 the student: uses appropriate techniques and equipment. The student attempts to follow the plan and mentions any modifications made, resulting in a product/solution of reasonable quality.

Today, you will have 3 (easy) tasks:

1. Use your plan to create your recipe flyer,
2. Create your recipe flyer,
3. Write a paragraph saying if your plan worked (exactly) or not. Include any changes you made to your original design. Remember to give details and explain everything;-)

Year 7 today we will work on the PLAN - Criterion C
First let's look at the assessment criteria to see exactly what we need to accomplish to be successful: http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dgg4pbx8_65hk6ff9gj

Today we have 3 tasks.
1 - Make a list of the resources we will use.
2 - Make a table with the steps needed to create our recipe flyer - Include the time it will take for each step.
3 - Write a paragraph evaluating the plan (saying why it will work;-).

Year 7 - Today is another Creative Day

DESIGN - Criterion B Maximum 6
Students are expected to generate 2 feasible designs that meet the design specification and to evaluate these against the design specification. (Remember that this means that you must make sure that your design really does have all of the items you listed in your design specification and then write a sentence says that your design meets the design specification.)

Students are then expected to select one design, justify their choice and evaluate this in detail against the design specification. (Write a paragraph stating WHY you chose one design and then list all of your design specifications individually and write how each one of the design specifications has been met- or will be met.) Example: 3 interesting historical facts. I have included a text box with 3 interesting historical facts that is easy to find.

To get a 6 the student: generates two designs and attempts to evaluate them both against the design specification. The student then attempts to justify the chosen design and evaluate it against the design specification.

Today, I would like you to do 2 things:
1. Open Publisher 2007 and create 2 different page layouts. You do NOT have to put in the recipe or any other information today - just DESIGN the space.
2. Choose one and justify choice

REMEMBER to include: a flag from your country in the upper right hand corner AND your first name and tutor group!

Please print your work and hand it in today.

Year 7 - Now, let's move on to the 3rd stage of the Investigation: Formulate a Design Specification. Remember this is the part where we decide which elements are essential to our product and then we create a test (usually a questionnaire) to evaluate our products.

Type Formulate a Design Specification (left justified, font size 16, bold, underlined)

Design Specification must include:
-3 interesting historical notes about your recipe or individual ingredients.
- how the recipe is important to your family
- why you like the recipe
-Create 3 more design specifications

Now, create a test to evaluate your product/solution. You will create a Questionnaire. Remember to include a rating scale. (Example: On a scale from 1-5, 1 is awful and 5 is awesome, please answer the following questions.)
